Team Red Cruising

Looking at the Future

It's time to start arm-chair sailing again.

Our stay in Texas is drawing to a close.

The sailing season is slipping away from us. It's December to June, more-or-less.

We think it shapes up like this...

Sailing Season

Drive from NC to Florida.

Clean and launch Red Ranger. Safe Cove prefers to have few people in the yard working on their boats, so, we have to do the minimum to get launched:

  • Oil Change.
  • Maybe some fuel, if needed.

Take on water at the dock, where it's potable. Motor down the canal to the Myakka river.

At anchor in the Myakka, bend on sails, and get everything ship-shape.

Motor to someplace to top off fuel.

Weirdly, the Active Captain info for Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club suggests they have a fuel dock, but, their web site shows nothing. No stars in Waterway Guide

More useful, the ICW has a lot of marinas.

Starting with Boca Grande Marina which seems to be accessible

Our cruising ground is split between these two areas:

Hurricane Season

Eventually, we have to return to Safe Cove for haulout.

Button up Red Ranger as well as we did last time.

Drive back to North Carolina.
