Team Red Cruising

Southbound Day 14

We've gone, it seems, almost nowhere. We're anchored a few miles past SM 135 on the AIWW. Norfolk is SM 0. We've taken 7 days to go 135 miles. Not quite 20 miles per day.

Beaufort is near SM 205. We're about ⅔ of the way there. It may actually take another week because we're not speeding for any reason. We want to see Belhaven and New Bern.

Today we did two of the long canal routes from the Alligator River to the Pungo River. It was pleasant to be out of the wind for a bunch of hours.

When we hit the Pungo River, it was 15 knots of wind almost straight on the nose. It was a nasty hour and a half to Pungo Creek. We've dropped the hook at 35° 30.7921′N, 076° 38.7253′W.

We intend to spend tomorrow at Belhaven doing some needed chores:

  • Water

  • Fuel

  • Laundry

  • Showers

  • Changing the anchor snubber line — part of the seizing has started to come apart.

  • Changing the oil in the injector pump

For tomorrow, we've planned a busy day. Today, we're lounging.

CA wants to walk around and take a look at things, so we may have to spend two days there. Or. We may motor across the creek and anchor nearby.

Here's our view of Pungo Creek.
