To see as much of the world as we can,
Using the smallest carbon footprint we can,
Spending the least amount of money we can,
Making as many friends we can.

Team Red Cruising

2025 Cruise Day 7

Today. The jobs are getting bigger, actually. They take several days to complete.

  1. Tighten the bolts on the stays'l track. They're accessible in the main cabin -- they come right through the deck and the top of the cabin. The track on the caprail has bolts that are almost inaccessible behind the cabin furniture. We don't check those but once in the last 15 years.

  2. Finish washing the aft cabin. And all the things in the cabin.

  3. Install the stringers in the bowsprit platform

The next picture (in spite of the shadow) was the goal. I'm pleased. The finish isn't great. Screw heads everywhere and cracks where things aren't perfectly joined.

Can you jump on the platform? Maybe. It's glued, screwed, and through-bolted. It'll do to prevent falling into the ocean while anchoring.

I think I want to add on some 4" wide x 25" long strips of marine-grade HDPE ("StarBoard") across the tops of the stringers. They're much wider than 4", so the strips would allow water to drain off the platform. But. It would add some support and spread a load across multiple stringers.

In the long run, a slab of steel might be nice.

Also, we went out shopping

We went to the Book Worm used bookstore. The relentless pace of boat work is -- well -- tiring. Some time looking at used books is valuable.

Indeed, the reason we have a boat is to go places and see things. Here we are, someplace without snow. We can go out and see things.
