Team Red Cruising

2024-2025 Cruise Plans

We survived Hurricane Ian back in 2022.

We survived Hurrican Milton in 2024.

We still have a lot of work to do. But we should have several months in which to do it. We're thinking about launching in November, 2024. We can then potter about the SW coast of FL for a few months. Perhaps until April or May (depending on how hot it gets.)

When last we were on Red Ranger (May of 2024), we had a pesky engine problem.

Mr. Lehman would run for about a half-hour or 45 minutes, and then just die.

I'd prime the fuel system, and he'd run again for a half-hour or so. It seemed like he'd idle forever and ever, but, under load, he'd struggle.

I wracked my brains.

Then I saw a note on the Facebook Ford Lehman group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/812812045747338).

Someone's engine was running and then dying.

The suggestion? The vent line is plugged.

Ah.

We were flopped over in a hurricane. We have a Racor LG100 Lifeguard fuel/air separator that could be plugged with wasp's nests, water, or fuel.

And.

Just to be sure. I have replacement fuel filters and replacement copper compression washers for every part of the fuel system.
